Workshop Description
Calling all lovers of notebooks and paper! Join paper extraordinaire Mariana for this introductory class and learn the basics of Centerfold Bookbinding for Beginners. This workshop is for anyone who has always wanted to make themselves a little notebook, to work with special papers or even to recycle materials into something useful. Learn to create your own handmade books using two distinct stitching techniques and craft two unique notebooks from start to finish. Learn to first create a hardcover book using coptic binding, a beautiful and durable stitching method that allows the book to lay flat when open. Then explore crossed-structure binding to make a flexible softcover book. By the end of the class, you will have created two personalized notebooks—perfect for journaling, recipes, sketching, or any other creative use; also perfect for gifting! WORKSHOP DETAILS AGE APPROPRIATENESS: 15+ (accompanied by a participating adult). LEVEL: Beginner, no previous experience necessary. MATERIALS PROVIDED All binding materials Needles Bone folders Waxed threads Binder clips Copy paper Illustration boards Fabric and decorative paper (will be provided but participants are free to bring some from home also!) All of our workshops include tea, coffee and something sweet. If you have any dietary restrictions, please let us know. Cancellation Policy
Classes are non-refundable and you cannot reschedule or transfer to another class. Our facilitators customize, purchase and prepare the materials for each participant in advance. If you would like to send someone else in your place, that’s absolutely okay, however we will need for you to provide their name, phone number and email address 24 hours before the class scheduled time either by email or phone. We are unable to transfer a credit after the class date has passed. Should any updated COVID restrictions require us to postpone classes, your ticket will be moved to a rescheduled date or converted to a Twelve (12) month credit that can be used to rebook into an alternative class at a later date.
