Workshop Description
Turn your favourite place into a beautiful piece of art in our Home Portraits workshop! In this cozy and creative two-part workshop, fine art architecture artist Hareem Ahmed (B.Arch Design) will guide you through the process of reading a reference photo and understanding proportions, sketching and inking techniques, and colour rendering a portrait of “home.” Whether it’s the house you grew up in, your apartment building, a family cottage, or any place that feels like home—you’ll learn the techniques to bring it to life on paper, step by step. Perfect for beginners and seasoned sketchers alike, this workshop focuses on architectural drawing with a personal twist. Learn invaluable drawing skills such as light and shadow analysis, colour mixing techniques, and the importance of tonal values. Expect lots of encouragement, expert tips, and time to explore your own artistic voice in a supportive and welcoming space. What to bring: Please bring a printed photo of your chosen place—this could be your home, a childhood street, or even the front entrance of your apartment or condo. (Scroll below for tips on great reference images!) All art materials are provided. Just bring your photo, your story, and your creativity. Let’s draw the places that make us who we are. WORKSHOP DETAILS AGE APPROPRIATENESS: 14+ (accompanied by a participating adult) LEVEL: Beginner, no previous experience necessary. ALL ART MATERIALS PROVIDED All of our workshops include tea, coffee and something sweet. If you have any dietary restrictions, please let us know. Upcoming Sessions
Cancellation Policy
Classes are non-refundable and you cannot reschedule or transfer to another class. Our facilitators customize, purchase and prepare the materials for each participant in advance. If you would like to send someone else in your place, that’s absolutely okay, however we will need for you to provide their name, phone number and email address 24 hours before the class scheduled time either by email or phone. We are unable to transfer a credit after the class date has passed. Should any updated COVID restrictions require us to postpone classes, your ticket will be moved to a rescheduled date or converted to a Twelve (12) month credit that can be used to rebook into an alternative class at a later date.
