Workshop Description
11/08/24 | 6:30pm to 9:30pm Learn to make a simple straw prism “pavuk”, in this Pavuky-Himmeli Straw Mobile Workshop. Pavuky is used to trap the bad energy and release good energy into the home. This craft harkens from Northern and Eastern Europe and can be found in most places where grain growing (and straw) is a key component of people’s lives. In Poland, they are known as pajaki, in Finland, himmeli, and in Lithuanian “sodai” (gardens of paradise). In Ukrainian: pavuky. “Pavuk" means spider in Ukrainian, and is considered a benevolent presence-- thus these web-like mobiles bring good fortune and blessings to the home. In this workshop you’ll get the chance to learn the basic principles of the craft and create your own delicate mobile to hang in your home. Experience the golden light and sacred geometry as you work with the simple gifts of wheat and rye straw, linen thread, and beeswax. All materials will be provided, and some grown by the instructor Bozena Hrycyna in her garden in the Madawaska Valley! Cancellation Policy
Classes are non-refundable and you cannot reschedule or transfer to another class. Our facilitators customize, purchase and prepare the materials for each participant in advance. If you would like to send someone else in your place, that’s absolutely okay, however we will need for you to provide their name, phone number and email address 24 hours before the class scheduled time either by email or phone. We are unable to transfer a credit after the class date has passed. Should any updated COVID restrictions require us to postpone classes, your ticket will be moved to a rescheduled date or converted to a Twelve (12) month credit that can be used to rebook into an alternative class at a later date.
