  • Curtain Call: A Show-Stopping Art Camp

    Early drop-off from 8:30am and late pick-up until 5pm available: see varied pricing. Ages 6+ Lights, costumes, ACTION! Campers will unleash their inner stars as they collaborate to write, direct, and perform their very own mini production. From designing jaw-dropping sets to crafting costumes worthy of the spotlight, kids will learn all the behind-the-scenes magic of stagecraft. On Friday, the curtain rises, and they’ll dazzle friends and family with a show that celebrates every camper’s unique talent—because the spotlight’s big enough for everyone here! All our summer camps end the week with a camp party and a pizza lunch! Our camp schedule consists of 2 work periods where we make more detailed art projects. Students will also have independent time where they can play with their friends. We will include some outdoor play time to stretch our legs and burn some energy.   • Pysanky - Ukrainian Egg Decorating

    In this 3-hour workshop of Pysanky - Ukrainian Egg Decorating Irene Appleby (nee Nabereznyj), will teach you the ancient art of writing with beeswax on eggs using a tool called a 'kistka'. We begin workshop with learning a little bit about the history and cultural significance of Pysanky. Then move into the technical skills necessary to create your own unique designs. In this workshop, you will design your egg, dip the egg into natural dyes, use a 'kistka' and so much more. Irene will guide you through the whole process and at the end, you will leave with a newfound appreciation for this beautiful art form and take home your own one-of-a-kind Pysanky creations which can then become part of your holiday decor.   • Beginner Tatting Lace with Shuttle

    Join Tiffany of forgetmeknotTO and learn the fundamental skills and techniques of the incredible craft of tatting lace. Participants will learn how to use the shuttle, the basic hand movements to make the Double-Stitch and how to read a simple pattern to create bouquet of colourful “ring” flowers using the delicate and unique craft of tatting lace. Our tatting workshop is beginner-friendly and allows participants to walk away feeling comfortable and confident in their newfound understanding of the foundational tatting skills.   • Hemming and Alterations Basics

    Learn the basics of garment hemming and alterations on your own sewing machine with fashion designer and film theatre costumer Niki. In this 3 hour workshop, Niki will show you a variety of skills and techniques to build your hemming and alterations confidence, measurement taking abilities, and sewing machine maintenance. Practice on your own item of clothing and learn the skills to get your wardrobe ready for the seasons ahead! PLEASE NOTE: Participants MUST bring their own sewing machine and a garment/article of clothing made of non-stretch (no t-shirts or activewear) and non-denim (no jeans or jean jackets) fabric—such as pants, a top, skirt, or similar—for use during the workshop. Participants should be confident and comfortable operating their own machines. This is a great next-step from our Sewing Machine Basics workshop.   • Kintsugi for Beginners

    Kintsugi is the Japanese art of putting broken pottery pieces back together with gold — a metaphor for embracing your flaws and imperfections. “You won't realize your full potential until you go through the tough times," In this three hour Kintsugi for Beginners workshop, Studio Mooi owner Tanya guides you on a life journey using the art of Kintsugi. The workshop begins by learning about the traditional practice of Kin (golden) Tsugi (joining) and then re-creating our own "golden joining" piece through modern techniques. During the workshop, we take a look at all the various elements used in Kintsugi and what they represent in our own life journey. Pottery will be provided. Please note: We do not recommend this workshop for pregnant or breastfeeding women due to the nature of the chemicals. Please Note: We do NOT offer repairs We provide the pottery for the workshop as there is a learning curve when learning the art of Kintsugi. Participants may bring their own pieces for consultation but will be using ONLY the pottery provided during the workshop. Epoxy used is NOT food grade. You will NOT be able to eat out of your finished piece. Completed Kintsugi will require cure time of 24 hours, but participants will take their pieces home the day of.   • Play with Clay - Hand Building Pottery

    Come get muddy with Lisa from Beaches Pottery at our Play with Clay - Hand Building Pottery workshop, and experience the fun of working with clay! We will be using our hands and basic tools to create flat slabs of clay that you’ll shape into something unique and one-of-a-kind. This workshop is great for beginners and those looking to experience the fun and challenges of working with clay. You will create a large bowl. We will use stamps, cloth or other found objects to decorate the raw clay on the outside of your pieces. Feel free to bring anything you’d like (fabric, lace, stamps, or things from nature) to add interest and texture to your piece. Templates will be provided and we will have some objects at the studio to use as well. Glaze options will be available to choose on the day of the workshop. Glazes are food safe. Your pieces will be glazed, fired twice and returned to the studio for pick up just in time for Mother's Day! We will be working with a local stoneware clay, colour will vary based on availability. Glaze and clay pictured above may not be exact during the workshop. PLEASE NOTE: Please allow up to 8 weeks for the glazing and firing process. We will contact you when your pieces are ready to be taken home - just in time for holiday gifting!
