Hemming and Alterations Basics

Workshop Description
Learn the basics of garment hemming and alterations on your own sewing machine with fashion designer and film theatre costumer Niki. In this 3 hour workshop, Niki will show you a variety of skills and techniques to build your hemming and alterations confidence, measurement taking abilities, and sewing machine maintenance. Practice on your own item of clothing and learn the skills to get your wardrobe ready for the seasons ahead! PLEASE NOTE: Participants MUST bring their own sewing machine and a garment/article of clothing made of non-stretch (no t-shirts or activewear) and non-denim (no jeans or jean jackets) fabric—such as pants, a top, skirt, or similar—for use during the workshop. Participants should be confident and comfortable operating their own machines. This is a great next-step from our Sewing Machine Basics workshop. WORKSHOP DETAILS AGE APPROPRIATENESS: This is an adult open age workshop suitable for ages 12+ (participants under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a participating adult) Level: Beginner friendly but participants MUST be confident and comfortable using their sewing machines. Option 1: With Sewing Kit - $95 Option 2: Without Sewing Kit - $85 MATERIALS PROVIDED: Fabric Thread Scissors Basic Sewing Kits are also available for purchase for an additional cost. Included in the kits: -Sewing pins -Variety of needles -Sewing Snips -Fabric Scissors -Measuring tape -Thimble -Sewing Threads -Seam ripper -Darning Needle -Extra buttons and pins -Carrying Case All of our workshops include tea, coffee and something sweet. Cancellation Policy
Classes are non-refundable. Cancellations are not permitted. Up to 7 days before the workshop, registrations may be: - Held as a credit on file, or - Transferred to another workshop of equal or greater value - Both of these processes are subject to a $15 administrative fee. To request a credit or transfer, please email hello@studiomooi.ca with the workshop you wish to move to. Our team will follow up to assist. Within 7 days of the workshop, credits and transfers are no longer available. Within this 7-day period, you may send someone in your place. Replacement participant details (first and last name, email, and phone number) must be provided at least 48 hours before the workshop begins. We are unable to transfer a credit after the class date has passed. Please check our Terms and Conditions for more details.
